Our Story

Our First Date

We officially met for the first time on our first date! Before that, one of us made the first move and messaged the other on social media (you’ll hear a different version of this story depending on who you ask!). After a bit of back-and-forth in the DMs, Kyle suggested a date in person. So, on October 1, 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we “dined” at Chesterfield’s Tavolo. We use the term “dined” loosely because we were so engaged in conversation and getting to know one another that we never even ordered dinner; yet somehow, we closed the restaurant down!

Our Life Together

From the night of our first date, our connection continued to grow. We committed to blending our lives, eventually settling in Oneida, NY, which served as a perfect midpoint for our work commutes in opposite directions at the time. We cherish spending time with family and friends, love traveling to unique destinations, and are proud “pawrents” to our Goldendoodle, Rosie!

Our Engagement

Puerto Rico has become a very special place for us, as it was the destination of our first vacation together. For this reason, Kyle felt it would be the perfect spot to propose during our spring break getaway. On the evening of April 22, 2024, Kyle suggested an impromptu walk on the beach before meeting family for dinner. Little did Adrienne know, a photographer, pretending to be a beach-goer, was secretly waiting to capture the moment! When Kyle dropped to one knee and slipped the ring onto Adrienne’s finger, she was in complete awe and could hardly process what was happening! In fact, neither of us can remember exactly what Kyle said! After a celebratory champagne toast and a delicious dinner, we spent the rest of the evening sharing our joy with family and friends.

Our Inspiration

When designing our wedding stationery, we wanted it to reflect our story. We incorporated the Rose of Sharon into our monogram, as it’s a popular flower in Puerto Rico. Coincidentally, it’s also the national flower of South Korea, Adrienne’s birthplace! We also drew inspiration from one of our favorite artists, Ángel Botello, who spent much of his life in Puerto Rico. We were fortunate to meet his son and visit his gallery in Old San Juan twice. One of Botello's works (albeit a poster) hangs proudly in our apartment, reminding us of our connection to the island! Additionally, our wedding invitation envelopes are lined with another favorite work of Botello, an oil painting done in 1982 called Flowers.
